I wanted the 12-string to sound like bright autumn leaves on a brilliant frosty morning. And it was fun to experiment with a less predictable rhyme scheme.

Lyrics

As the moon pulls us up across the bridge
Somewhere in October
The sun still warms us over
But the mornings start to flirting with the frost
Climbing stony piles
Hike a dozen miles
Hoping we're not lost
Regret the lines we crossed
Tallying the cost
Heaving toward exhausted
Resting for a while
As the moon settles down behind the ridge

As the moon hides a grin behind the trees
Somehow in the dark sky
Unknown to our dark eyes
Our cameras see auroras no less real
Search the constellations
Seeking explanations
Close enough to feel
Spinnng the starwheel
Pleading our appeal
Hands too numb to feel
Except a vague sensation
As the moon makes its bed down in the sea

As the moon watches wide-eyed from above
Wondering if the sentries
Half asleep for centuries
Finally might be ready now to learn
Washed up in the shallows
Ghosts of silent shadows
Tides recurrent churn
Spending what they've earned
On hearts too hurt to yearn
The seasons slowly turn
And the stony fields lie fallow
As the moon reflects its harvest glow of love
